A small help means to people like Bhairav Ram – Blacksmithy made him earn more

Bhairav Ram, residence of Jamtola village in Champawat district, comes from a blacksmith family. Small tool making at a local village was his traditional profession. He was producing limited quantity of farm tools and they too were not easily sold in the local market. This was because Mr. Bhairav Ram was not aware of the improved farm tools and had no facility accept his traditional tools. With income from his trade he was not able to support his family properlty. Under NAIP such families were identified and were imparted training at the institutes’ workshop at Hawalbagh. They were also provided with small tools for making farm equipments. After the training they got lot of confidence and started making the ligh-trap and other farm tools. Light traps are in a great demand by the state department and the institute for control of the insects, particularly the white-grub beetles. Today each family is able to earn minimum Rs. 200/- per day. Today Bhairav Ram is happy that he can lead a happy life by meeting the needs of his family. Now I have no problem of market for my products and my earning is also manifolds higher than I used to earn, says he.
