The KVK is a grass root level institution designed and devoted to impart need-based and skill-oriented vocational training to the practicing farmers, in-service extension personnel and to those who wish to go in for self-employment through "learning by doing". This Kendra was established on 24 December, 2004 keeping in mind to accelerate the agricultural production and also to improve the socio-economic conditions of the farming community of Uttarkashi district. |

| 1. | Conducting "on-farm trials" for identifying technologies in terms of location specific sustainable land use systems. |
| 2. | To organize training to update the extension personnel's skill within the area of operation with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis. |
| 3. | To organize short and long term vocational training courses in agriculture and allied vocations for the rural youths, with emphasis on "learning by doing" for generation self-employment through institutional financing and on-and off-campus training courses. |
| 4. | To conduct front-line demonstrations in various crops to generate production data and feedback information. |

The KVK is located at Chinyalisaur in Uttarkashi District of Uttarakhand about 129 Kilometers from Rishikesh. The elevation of Chinyalisaur is 755 meters above mean sea level. The KVK is located at 300 20’N latitude and 770 49’ E longitude. |

The minimum temperature falls to near freezing point in winter and maximum goes up to 32.10 C in summer. The annual rainfall is about 880 mms. |

| Infrastructure | |
|
The KVK is in a common building having adequate space for staff, office, library and classrooms etc. The audio visual library is equipped with audio-visual aids and equipment for necessary for training. The Home science lab has necessary infrastructure and appliances to conduct demonstrations on preservation of fruits and vegetables, value addition of food items, preparation of various sweets etc. |
